Athena Antypa was born, resides and works in Athens, Greece. She studied drawing and painting and was taught the mosaic craft by Greek artisans. Since 1994, she shares a workshop in Ilioupoli with her husband, Fotis Lykos.

Fotis Lykos was born in Euboea, Greece and studied painting, mosaics and ceramics in Paris.  In the years preceding his collaboration with Athena, he produced original ceramic objects for galleries and art spaces in his Athens atelier.

Athena Antypa and Fotis Lykos create mosaics inspired by Ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine art, as well as contemporary pieces for architectural and product design applications, often including ceramic components.  Their work is defined by the use of natural materials: stone, marble and pebble, paired with enamel and gold tesserae as well as their own handmade ceramic tiles. They collaborate with museums, architectural firms, educational institutions and galleries. Past and on-going commissions include large-scale mosaics for contemporary churches and residences as well as specialized projects including the creation and restoration of mosaics for the luxury Onassis yacht “Christina O”.
